RenewBell privacy policy

The subscription calculator runs in your browser. It does not send entered names or amounts to a calculator server, use browser storage to keep them between visits or connect to a bank. CSV export happens when you choose. The website host receives ordinary page requests, such as IP address and request metadata. No analytics provider or advertising tracker has been added to this website build. The full policy below describes the RenewBell iOS app and its backend services.
RenewBell — Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 12, 2026 Last Updated: Nov 2, 2026
Developer: Workship Apps
Contact: support@subscriptiontrackingapp.com
1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how RenewBell , an iOS application developed by Workship Apps ("we", "us", or "the developer"), collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the app. It applies only to the RenewBell iOS app and the backend services we operate for it. It does not cover third-party websites or services that you may reach through links in the app, such as our legal or support pages hosted elsewhere.
By using RenewBell, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. What RenewBell Is
RenewBell is a subscription tracker. It helps you record the paid services you subscribe to (for example streaming, music, or cloud storage), see what they cost, and receive reminders and alarms before subscriptions renew so you are not surprised by charges. It also offers an optional "Smart Scan" feature that reads a receipt or subscription screenshot with your camera or from your photo library and suggests a subscription entry for you.
3. Information You Provide
Sign in with Apple. RenewBell requires an account, created exclusively through Sign in with Apple. When you sign in, Apple shares with us a unique Apple user identifier, your name, and your email address (if you choose Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive a private relay address instead of your real one). We use this to create and secure your account.
Profile details. You can set a display name in the app.
Subscription entries. The services you track: service name, category, price, currency, billing cycle, renewal dates, payment label, and similar details you enter or confirm. This also includes whether a subscription is a free trial and when the trial ends, the previous price when you raise a price, and the date you mark a subscription as cancelled (used to show your savings).
Preferences and settings. Your chosen app language, theme, currency, alarm and reminder settings, and onboarding choices (such as the categories and goals you select).
Support communications. If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message.
4. Information Collected Automatically
Device and app information. When you sign in, we record basic device details in your account: device model (for example "iPhone16,2"), iOS version, app version, and a per-install identifier derived from Apple's vendor identifier. We use this for account security, support, and platform statistics.
App activity status. The app records whether it was last in the foreground or background and a "last seen" timestamp for your account, used for operational purposes.
Smart Scan usage counts. We store how many scans you have performed (lifetime and monthly counters) to enforce Smart Scan usage limits, including a monthly fair-use limit that applies to every account. We do not store the scanned images or the text extracted from them.
Subscription entitlement status. Whether your account has an active RenewBell Pro subscription.
Usage analytics. The app uses Google Firebase Analytics and PostHog to collect usage and interaction data — for example app opens, screen views, feature usage (such as adding a subscription or exporting a report), app version, device type, and general usage patterns. Within these tools you are identified only by a random identifier — never by your email or account identity. To understand usage in aggregate, we attach a few profile properties to that random identifier: whether the account has RenewBell Pro and how it was obtained (the plan, and whether through a special offer), the app language, whether onboarding was completed, and — only if you set one in the app or share it when signing in with Apple — your display name. You may request deletion of this analytics profile at any time (see Section 12). Analytics requests, like any network traffic, include your IP address; PostHog derives an approximate, city-level location from it — precise location is never collected.
Masked session replays. To understand where the app confuses people, PostHog may record a limited "session replay" of how screens are used. These recordings are fully masked on your device before anything is sent: all text, all images, and all keystrokes are masked, so a replay is only a wireframe of taps and screen navigation — nothing you type or read is ever visible or transmitted. Replays do not record the app's network requests or console logs.
Subscription and purchase events. To understand which parts of the app lead people to upgrade, we record paywall activity (which screen opened it, which plan was selected, and whether a purchase or restore succeeded, including the product, price and currency). We also record the special offers we show — such as a one-time discount when you close the paywall, or an offer to stay when you go to manage or cancel your plan — including the offer, its price, and whether you accepted it. Our subscription provider RevenueCat also sends PostHog subscription status events — such as a purchase, trial, renewal, cancellation, expiration or refund — under the same random analytics identifier. To link them, RevenueCat stores that random identifier with your subscription record. Payment details never reach us, RevenueCat or PostHog; purchases are handled entirely by Apple.
Crash and diagnostics data. The app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and related diagnostics (stack traces, device state at the time of a crash) so we can find and fix bugs.
5. Device Permissions RenewBell Uses
RenewBell asks for the following permissions, each only when you use the related feature:
Camera — to scan subscription receipts and screenshots with Smart Scan.
Photo Library — to let you pick an existing screenshot for Smart Scan.
Notifications — to deliver renewal reminders and occasional in-app engagement reminders as local notifications scheduled on your device.
Alarms (AlarmKit, iOS 26 and later) — to sound renewal alarms that can break through Silent Mode or Focus, if you enable them.
RenewBell does not request access to your location, contacts, calendar, microphone, health data, or Bluetooth.
6. Smart Scan and AI Processing
When you use Smart Scan:
The image is processed on your device using Apple's Vision text recognition. The image itself never leaves your device.
The extracted text is sent over an encrypted connection to our backend (a Supabase Edge Function we operate), which forwards it to an AI provider — Groq as the primary provider, with Google Gemini as a fallback — to identify the subscription details (service name, price, billing cycle).
The structured result is returned to your device so you can review and confirm it before anything is saved.
The extracted text is used only to complete the scan. Our backend is designed not to store or log it. The AI providers process the text solely to return the result to us.
7. How We Use Information
We use the information above to:
Create, secure, and operate your account;
Store and sync your subscription entries and settings across sign-ins;
Schedule the renewal reminders and alarms you configure;
Provide the Smart Scan feature and enforce its usage limits;
Determine your RenewBell Pro entitlement and handle purchase restoration;
Understand aggregate usage of the app and improve its features;
Diagnose crashes and technical problems;
Respond to your support requests;
Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your information to serve advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
8. Third-Party Services
RenewBell uses the following services, each confirmed in the app's implementation:
Service
Role
What it processes
Apple (Sign in with Apple, App Store)
Authentication; payment processing for in-app purchases
Apple credentials stay with Apple; we receive the identifier, name, and email described above. Purchases are billed by Apple to your Apple ID; we never see your payment card details.
Supabase
Backend: authentication sessions, database, and serverless functions we operate
Your account profile, subscription entries, preferences, device metadata, activity status, scan counters, and entitlement status.
RevenueCat
Subscription purchase management
Your account's user ID, purchase receipts, and subscription status, used to unlock RenewBell Pro and restore purchases. RevenueCat also stores your random analytics identifier and sends subscription status events to PostHog under it (see Section 4).
Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics)
Usage analytics and crash reporting
Usage events, device information, crash reports, and Firebase's own app-instance identifiers.
PostHog
Product analytics and masked session replay (hosted in the United States)
Usage events, paywall and subscription status events (including those received from RevenueCat), the profile properties described in Section 4 (including the optional display name), and fully masked session replays — all under a random identifier, never your account identity.
Groq / Google Gemini
AI processing for Smart Scan (via our backend)
The text extracted from your scan, transiently, to return structured subscription details.
logo.dev
Brand logo images
When the app displays a service's logo, your device requests the image from logo.dev; like any web request, this exposes your IP address and the requested brand domain to logo.dev. Logos are cached on your device afterwards.
Frankfurter (via our backend)
Currency exchange rates
Currency codes and amounts needed for conversion; no account or personal identifiers are included.
We share personal information only with these processors, only as needed to run the app. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
9. Advertising and Tracking
RenewBell contains no advertising and no advertising SDKs . The app does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Analytics described above are used solely to improve RenewBell itself.
10. Data Retention
We keep your account information and subscription entries for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, our backend deletes your account record and the associated data linked to it (profile, subscription entries, preferences, alarm settings, device records, activity status, scan counters, and entitlement records). We may keep a minimal record of the deletion event itself (an internal user reference, app version, and platform) for audit and abuse-prevention purposes.
Analytics and crash data held by Firebase and PostHog are retained under those providers' retention practices. Information we are required to keep for legal, dispute-resolution, security, or enforcement reasons is retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes.
11. Data Security
Communication between the app and our backend uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Backend data access is restricted with row-level security so that each account can only read and write its own records, and account deletion is performed by a controlled server-side function rather than the client. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures appropriate to the data we handle.
12. Your Choices and Rights
Access and correction. You can view and edit your subscription entries, display name, and settings directly in the app at any time.
Notifications and alarms. You can turn reminders and alarms on or off in the app's Alarms & Reminders settings, or in iOS Settings → Notifications.
Camera and photos. You can revoke camera or photo access at any time in iOS Settings; Smart Scan simply becomes unavailable.
Sign out. Available in the app under Settings → Main Settings.
Data requests. You may email us at support@subscriptiontrackingapp.com to request a copy, correction, or deletion of the personal data we hold about you. Depending on your place of residence, you may have additional statutory rights (such as those under the GDPR or CCPA); we will honor valid requests in accordance with applicable law.
13. Account Deletion
You can delete your account directly in the app :
Settings → Main Settings → Data → Delete Account , then confirm.
Deleting your account removes your data from our backend as described in Section 10, and clears the data stored on your device. If you prefer, you can also request deletion by emailing support@subscriptiontrackingapp.com from the address associated with your account.
Note: deleting your RenewBell account does not cancel an active RenewBell Pro subscription — subscriptions are managed by Apple. Cancel anytime in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions .
14. Children's Privacy
RenewBell is a personal-finance utility and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at support@subscriptiontrackingapp.com and we will delete it.
15. International Data Processing
The service providers listed above may process data on servers located outside your country of residence (for example, our PostHog analytics instance is hosted in the United States). Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards offered by these established providers and applicable law.
16. Legal Disclosures
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request, or where reasonably necessary to protect the security of the app, our users, or the public, or to enforce our Terms and Conditions .
17. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date above, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example through the app or its App Store listing). Continued use of RenewBell after an update means you accept the revised policy.
